Premiership Betting Guide

Premiership Betting GuideThe Premiership is English football`s top division. Since its inception in 1992 it has become the richest league in the world, attracting superstars and supporters from across the globe. Its appeal is so strong that you are just as likely to find a United fan in Malaysia as you are in Manchester and live Premiership football is beamed to hundreds of countries every weekend.

This growth in global popularity has also seen a huge rise in the number of people betting on Premiership matches. There are so many kinds of bets you can place these days that it’s difficult to know where to start.

Fixed Odds

The most traditional form of betting is fixed odds betting and these are generally offered by your high-street bookmaker. Fixed odds occur when the bookmaker gives a set of odds, usually on the full-time result and goal scorers and you place a bet at these odds before the game kicks off.

There are also accumulator bets which allow you to increase your winnings as you bet on the outcome of several matches. However, you must get every outcome right and if you fail to do so then you lose your money.

Spread Betting

A form of betting that is growing in popularity, spread betting often looks complicated but isn’t really that difficult to follow. The idea is that you can bet on whether any number of outcomes will be above or below the spread set by the bookmaker.

For example, a bookmaker`s goals spread may be between 2.3 and 2.6, which means that a game will end up yielding between 2 and 3 goals. If you feel it will be a high-scoring game, then you could place ?10 at the 2.6 spread and if the game then finished 3-2 then you would end up with ?24 in winnings.

This is calculated by taking the total number of goals (5), subtracting your spread (2.6) and then multiplying your stake (?10) by the number that is left (2.4) giving you a total of 24.

In-Game Betting

In-game betting has really taken off since people have been able to gamble online while watching live broadcasts of football matches. This is an exciting way to bet as you can bet on any number of outcomes, from the number of corners won by a team to shots on goal or even the next goal scorer.

The odds change as the game unfolds and you can bet according to the patterns of play, so it is a totally different experience to both fixed-odds and spread betting.

General Premiership Betting

You can also bet on who will win the Premiership, who will finish in the top four, who will be relegated and even who will be the first manager to lose his job.

However, unless you put a lot of money on or make multiple bets, such as all three relegated teams, it is difficult to make real money this way as it is usually the same teams finishing near the top and bottom of the table each year.

But whether or not you’re doing it to make money, betting on live football adds an extra element when you’re watching and can even make the most mundane match more exciting.
