The two hottest team in the league are battling it out at the top of the Central Division, where the St. Louis Blues hold a three-point lead over the Colorado Avalanche. The defending champs have won eight in a row, while the Avs have reeled off seven straight victories. The Blues are slight +105 favourites to win the division and Colorado is right on their heels at +105. Both clubs are seeing some support on Stanley Cup futures bets, too. The Boston Bruins have taken over top spot there as +450 Stanley Cup favourites, followed by the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Blues at +600 apiece. The Avs are next up at +700.
If you’re into player props check out some recent goal scoring odds. Boston’s David Pastranak, who has 47 tallies on the year, is a -225 favourite to get to 50 goals first. Toronto Maple Leafs sniper Auston Matthews and Washington Capitals captain each have 45. Matthews is at +205 to reach 50 first while Ovechkin is at +325.
The Boston Celtics have been an excellent bet all year, but missed an opportunity to close the gap for first place in the Atlantic this week. The division-leading Toronto Raptors have lost two in a row, but so have the Celtics, leaving Boston 1.5 games back. The Celtics still lead the league at 37-21 against the spread. Toronto continues its western swing this week by visiting the Golden State Warriors on Thursday and the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. The big game on the board this weekend is Sunday’s Battle of L.A. between the Lakers and Clippers at 3:30 ET.
Not many mixed martial artists are willing to step into the cage with veteran Yoel Romero, but middleweight champ Isreal Adesanya can’t wait to put his belt on the line this weekend in Las Vegas. Adesanya, who is 30 years old and unbeaten at 18-0, is pegged as a -275 favourite against Romero (+200). Romero is 13-4 and one of the most feared fighters in the sport, yet it was Adesanya who picked this fight. There’s also still talk that Adesanya might move up to challenge Jon Jones at light heavyweight and speculative odds on that matchup have him as a slight +100 underdog with Jones a -130 favourite.
The co-main event of this weekend’s card should be a doozy, too. Joanna Jedrzejczyk is looking to reclaim her straw-weight title, but she’s set as a +160 underdog to Weili Zhang (-200). This has the makings of a very competitive card with Sean O’Malley set as the biggest favourite at -350 in his bout with Jose Quinonez (+250).
