If you haven’t noticed, the Chicago Blackhawks are on one of the hottest betting streaks we’ve seen in some time. At 30-30-8-1, their playoff hopes are all but shot, but they are making over bettors a fortune. Leaky defence and goaltending combined with a Patrick Kane-fueled offence is a good recipe for topping totals. Chicago has played over the total in 24 of its last 26 games and now has the over running at a 46-19-4 this season. The Blackhawks host a trio of Canadian squads coming up on the schedule with the Toronto Maple Leafs in town on Wednesday before the Montreal Canadiens and Vancouver Canucks stop by.
Meanwhile, on the NHL Futures board, it’s been the Tampa Bay Lightning looking down on everyone else for much of the season. They’ve actually been so dominant that Sports Interaction oddsmakers posted a wager of whether the Lightning can go 16-0 in the playoffs and it’s only priced at +1600. To compare, the Nashville Predators are at +1400 to win the Stanley Cup, while the Pittsburgh Penguins are at +1500.
If you were wondering, we have the Golden State Warriors going perfect 16-0 in the playoffs at +800 and they continue to be an overwhelming -227 favourite to win the NBA Championship. In the Eastern Conference, the Toronto Raptors remain +190 favourites to go to the NBA Finals even though the Milwaukee Bucks have the best record in the Association at 51-17. The Bucks are +200 to win the East.
The Cleveland Browns made a huge splash on Tuesday by acquiring wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. from the New York Giants in exchange for strong safety Jabrill Peppers and a first and a third-round draft pick. How big of a move was that for the Browns? Well they jumped all the way from the middle of the pack to have the third best odds of winning the AFC Championship. Cleveland is now at +695, trailing only the Kansas City Chiefs (+333) and the New England Patriots (+300). The Browns are currently pegged at +1600 to win the Super Bowl. Keep an eye out for our NFL Draft props which will be going live soon too. Right now Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray is set at -210 to be drafted within the first six picks of the draft and at +145 to go seventh or later.
