Sports Interaction News Week 47

The Philadelphia Eagles’ reign at the top of the NFL Super Bowl odds board didn’t last long. They leapfrogged the New England Patriots while the Pats were on their bye, but Bill Belichick’s boys are back at the top of the heap after pounding the Broncos 41-16. Now New England is at +333 to win the championship again followed by the Eagles at +500.

The Pats and Eagles are two of the most popular bets in Week 11 too. Almost 90 percent of bettors are backing the Patriots to cover the spread as 7-point favourites on the road against the Oakland Raiders and 86 percent of bets are on the Eagles -3.5 at Dallas.

The biggest line in Week 11 has the New York Giants set as 11-point underdogs at home to the Kansas City Chiefs. Nearly 80 percent of early bets are backing Kansas City. Meanwhile, Sunday’s matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans is set as a Pick ‘em with the betting handle split down the middle.

Week 11 kicks off with the Pittsburgh Steelers set as touchdown favourites on Thursday Night Football. About 60 percent of bettors are supporting the Steelers, who have won four in a row and covering in three of those.

The New York Rangers have erased a terrible start to the season by reeling off six straight victories. They now sit third overall in the NHL puckline standings having earned just over eight units for their bettors. New York has scored at least four goals in five of the games during the winning streak and they’re now converting on 25.8 percent of their power play opportunities (ranking third overall).

The Tampa Bay Lightning have lost just twice in regulation in 18 games to sit atop the league standings but heavy odds have limited their puckline earnings to just over three units. The St. Louis Blues are the most profitable team in the NHL so far on the puckline, up 10 units for their supporters.

The CFL Division Finals go this weekend to determine the two teams that will square off for this year’s Grey Cup. Early action is on the underdogs in both matchups. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are 2.5-point underdogs at Toronto, but almost 75 percent of bettors are backing the visiting squad. In the Western Final, the Edmonton Eskimos are seeing 85 percent of bets to cover as 5-point underdogs in Calgary.
