Betting on Breeders’ Cup – Enable to Complete Arc – Turf Double

Enable will be in the focus when she tries to capture the victory at the Breeders’ Cup Turf this weekend. Her brilliant form in all the European races she took part makes her an odds-on favorite to win the Turf and bookmakers have expectedly given her the lowest odds to triumph.

The bay filly won the Cheshire Oaks, Epsom Oaks, Irish Oaks, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Yorkshire Oaks, and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in her second racing season and those six Group 1 wins certainly make her a favorite in everyone’s books.

In fact, Enable is probably the heaviest favorite of all other top rated horses in the other 14 races as she is given arguably the shortest odds to win. However, she is also the likeliest winner of them all and a great investment. Bet on the Breeders’ cup biggest favorite and you are practically guaranteed to get a return on that investment.

Furthermore, if Enable wins the Turf, she will be the first horse to win the Arc and the Turf in the same year. This remarkable achievement means that if she does it, she would win two extremely tough 1 1/2 mile turf races and complete a journey across the Atlantic in only a month’s time. But can she actually do it, or will it be too tough on the talented filly. We think that she can do it and here’s why.

Has Had Enough Rest Between Races

Unlike other horses that had failed attempts to complete the Arc – Turf double, Enable comes to Churchill Downs with a much shorter season in which she hardly even ran. She started her season with a comfortable victory in the September Stakes and then a month later she managed to win at the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in a race in which she had to hold off Sea of Class.

These two wins are hardly any exertions to a fit horse such as Enable and it is highly probable that Enable will actually start the race as one of the freshest horses on the track.

Fit and Healthy

Another thing that goes in favor of the argument that Enable will complete the illustrious double is the fact that she actually came down with temperature between the September Stakes and her Arc victory and still managed to win the Arc even though she was short on fitness and missed some training sessions.

This means that she will now be fit and healthy and the prospect of seeing her run at her best is really scary for other competitors as a fully fit Enable would present a completely different racing proposition.

No Travelling Problems

The transatlantic journey might be a problem for some horses, but the fact of the matter remains that all European horses have to make that journey and throughout history we have seen that European horses are actually very strong competitors at the Breeders’ Cup as 15 of the 19 Turf winning horses were from Europe.
